ZAMBIAN referee Janny Sikazwe will this evening January 14, 2017 officiate the match between Burkina Faso and the indomitable lions of Cameroon on the opening day of the AFCON 2017 in Libreville Gabon.

Sikazwe, who recently officiated at the just ended FIFA Club World Cup Final between Real Madrid and Kashima Antlers, is Zambia’s sole representative at the AFCON after the national soccer team failed to qualify for Africa’s biggest soccer showpiece.

He will be assisted by the Angolan assistant referee Dos Santos and Marwa Range of Kenya. The dual also assisted him to officiate the FIFA Club World Cup Final last month.

In 2012, Sikazwe officiated at the AFCON finals which were won by the Chipolopolo. Sikazwe later officiated at the 2013 and 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments in South Africa and Equatorial Guinea, respectively.

He later represented the country at the FIFA 2015 Under-17 World Cup tournament in Chile. Sikazwe, who is also a teacher, has been shortlisted to officiate at the 2018 Russia World Cup.
