FAZ has saluted Jan Sikazwe for making the final referees list for the 2018 Russia FIFA World Cup.

Sikazwe will be amongst six referees from Africa out of a total of 36 from around the World who will officiate at next June’s finals in Russia.

“On behalf of the FAZ executive and the rest of the football family, I would like to convey our happiness on your recent appoint which is another vivid testament to your level of professionalism and competence in the game,” Kamanga said.

“The level of success you have attained in a calendar year is commendable. Evident among your achievements this year is your appointment to officiate at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup final, and the Senior Africa Cup of Nations final held in Gabon.

“FAZ is further enlivened by the bar you continue to set for the current and future referees of the game both at domestic and international level. It is our hope that young referees will emulate the standards you have set as an ambassador and role model of this country.”

Sikazwe heads to the World Cup after also officiating the 2016 FIFA World Club Cup final last December that saw Real Madrid beat hosts Kashima Antlers of Japan 4-2 after extra time.

He later refereed the 2017 AFCON final in February in Gabon that Cameroon beat Egypt 2-1 in Libreville.
