Oriental Quarries Boxing promotions operations manager Christopher Malunga has revealed that 90 percent of the K350, 000 budget has been met for the 13th October 2018 bout between Zambia’s Catherine Phiri and South Africa’s Ashindiwa Nxoswana to be held in Lusaka.

Speaking to the media in Lusaka yesterday, Malunga said there would be other filler fights that would prepare Zambian boxers and help them rip medals at African youth games and other Olympic Games.

“We are going to have a number of filler fights that will act as entertainment to fans because we do not know how the main fight will finish. Sometimes the main fight cannot be as exciting as the filler fights hence our endeavour to organise tougher filler fights,” said Malunga.

And Malunga also said there would be bouts to look forward to in December 2018, and end of January 2019. He added that the forecast for 2019 was having a promotional fight in every province.

Meanwhile, WBC silver champion Catherine Phiri said she was training hard to overcome tricks that would be exhibited by Nxoswana.

“I do not know anything about my opponent so I’m training from and in all angles so that I’m able to face her even if she shows awkward tactics,” summed Phiri.

Catherine is also set to fight super bantam weight champion Fatuma Zarika on 08th September, 2018.

Ashindiwa Nxoswana has a record of 10 fights among which are 6 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses.

Other boxers scheduled to fight are Alfred Muwowo(Zambian) Vs Haji Juma, Jama Gai of Ghana Vs Israel Kamwambi of Somalia and Dave Mwale(Zambian) Vs Wiseman Chuma of Zimbabwe.
