Zambian Super league giants Zanaco have sent assistant coach Dabid Chilufya on an indefinite administrative leave, three weeks after the commencement of the league.

Club managing director Marlon Kananda confirmed the development but said he could not avail reasons for the club’s decision.

“Dabid Chilufya is on administrative leave. We haven’t parted company; he is on administrative leave. There are so many reasons why he was sent on leave. If you look at administrative leave, you will of course see that one is sent on administrative leave for so many reasons. But for us, he is on administrative leave indefinitely and should anything happen, we will be able to get to you and update you. It’s difficult actually to communicate such. If it were a dismissal, we would have easily communicated. So he has been put on leave and there is nothing more we can say except that we will communicate when a new decision is taken,” said Kananda.

Chilufya was appointed Zanaco assistant coach in 2015 to join the Numba Mumamba-led technical bench as a replacement for Edward Mwale.

He was head coach at Forest Rangers, another Super League side, prior to joining Zanaco.

Chilufya was also assistant coach at Zesco United.
