This year’s theme for the International Women’s Day celebrations has come at the right time when women are fighting to be included in all sphere of life, says lands minister Jean Kapata.

Speaking to journalists at Show Grounds today, Kapata said this year’s theme; ‘Promoting inclusiveness in economic participation as a means of attaining sustainable development’, was timely.

“This theme has come at the right time and we must all fight for inclusiveness. My ministry is also working tirelessly to ensure that women can be empowered with land. We want as many women as possible to be land owners; we want women to own 50 per cent of land from the 30 per cent which they currently own,” said Kapata.

The lands minister also emphasized the need for women to be in the forefront in the fight against HIV/AIDS, high illiteracy levels, and poverty.
