Being ruling party cadres should never disadvantage our supporters; priority will be given to our people when sub-contracting in the upcoming Copperbelt projects,” says Copperbelt Minister Bowman Lusambo.

Speaking when he addressed party supporters yesterday, Lusambo said President Edgar Lungu would on June 20th visit Copperbelt Province to launch a US$493 million 400Km (C400) road project, US$397 million Copperbelt International Airport project, US$104 million Kafubu Water and Sewerage Company project and US$490 million Water and Sanitation Project.

“Currently, Copperbelt Province is potentially sitting on over US$1,000,000,000 (billion) worth of investment. As a province, we will next month have the privilege to host the Republican President who will be launching a US$493 million Copperbelt 400Km (C400) road project in Chingola. This Project will be launched from Chingola because the town will be a major beneficiary of the initiative and to also demonstrate that when it comes to development, value has been placed on every single district in the province away from Ndola and Kitwe. Contracts here will be a reserve of the Copperbelt residents,”Lusambo said.

“His Excellency Edgar Chagwa Lungu, the great leader of our nation will also on June 20, flag off another major project in the region and this is the US$397 million Copperbelt International Airport project expected to create in excess of 3000 jobs. Here I must state that being ruling party cadres should never disadvantage our supporters. Priority will be given to our people when sub-contracting in the upcoming Copperbelt projects. They are the ones who put us in government so why should I not make them a priority when they have the knowledge, skill and expertise to secure and execute the contracts?”

He said with these project going, it will be very difficult for any politician to compete with President Lungu.

“His Excellency, the great leader of our nation will also commission the US$104 million Kafubu Water and Sewerage Company (KWSC) Project and the US$490 million Water and Sanitation Project. These are projects that we members of parliament and councillors in Ndola campaigned for. At the pace the Republican President is developing our nation, it will be very difficult for any politician to compete with him,” said Lusambo.

“His Excellency President Edgar Lungu is determined to foster projects and initiatives that will result in Copperbelt being the agricultural Hub of our nation. These projects include the Kafulafuta – Masaiti Dam which will provide sufficient water for irrigation and other related agriculture activities such as Fish and Livestock farming in Luanshya, Mpongwe, Masaiti, Ndola and other neighbouring areas. This ambitious venture will attract in excess of 2,000 jobs as well as sub-contracts which will be awarded to local residents of the Copperbelt Province.”
