President Edgar Lungu has learned with sorrow the death of the London inferno victims.

In a statement today, Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda said the Head of State regretted the deaths of several innocent lives lost in the fire through a message of condolences to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Theresa May.

“I wish to convey, on behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Zambia, and indeed on my own behalf, my deepest condolences to the people of the United Kingdom, and the families of the deceased during this trying period,” the President said.

Chanda said the President had learned with profound sorrow, the loss of so many lives and injuries suffered by survivors who were currently admitted to various hospitals.

“As we join you in mourning the departed, we pray that the Lord Almighty grants solace and fortitude to the bereaved families. I wish the injured a quick recovery,” said President Lungu.
