Police in Lusaka today warned and cautioned Roan PF Member of parliament Chishimba Kambwili on three counts of fraud, uttering of false documents and giving false information to a public officer.

Kambwili was supposed to appear before the Zambia Police Criminal Investigations wing on Friday but his lawyers had informed police that their client was unavailable and rescheduled to today.

Kambwili, who arrived in the company of his lawyers around 08:30, was thronged by hundreds of supporters.

One of his lawyers Christopher Mundia briefed media shortly after the one-hour-thirty-minutes long interrogation.

“Essentially what he has been summoned for, there are three allegations. One of fraud, one of uttering of false documents, the third is giving false information to a public officer. So they have administered a warn and caution statement and then they will invite us at an appropriate date so that they can take further steps. But all in all, the interview went well, we have got no complaint. In short they are still investigating,” said Mundia.

Meanwhile Kambwili said the allegations were orchestrated by State House using their stooge; EPP leader Chilufya Tayali.

“They called me that I forged some documents at PACRA in 2013. So we have given them the answers and it is up to them to investigate and get back to us. This is just political, I mean we know it came from somewhere. When it comes from Tayali it is from State House,” said Kambwili.
