The Holy Father Pope Francis has appointed Right Reverend Bishop Alick Banda to replace His Grace Most Reverend Telesphore Mpundu as Metropolitan Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Lusaka.
According to a statement released yesterday by the Catholic Church Apostolic Nuncio in Zambia, the Pope made this appointment in the Vatican City at 13:00 hours yesterday.

The Apostolic Nuncio stated that Archbishop Mpundu would remain in charge of the Archdiocese as Apostolic Administrator until the new archbishop takes possession of the Episcopal See of Lusaka.

“The Apostolic Nunciature in Zambia informs that the Holy Father Pope Francis has appointed the Right Reverend Bishop Alick Banda, as Metropolitan Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Lusaka. The announcement will be made today, Tuesday 30th January 2018 at 13:00 hours in Vatican City.
His Grace Most Reverend Telesphore George Mpundu, Archbishop of Lusaka remains in charge of the Archdiocese as Apostolic Administrator until the new archbishop take possession of the Episcopal See of Lusaka,” stated the Apostolic Nuncio.
