President Edgar Lungu has declared Friday, March 9, 2018 a public holiday.

Secretary to the Cabinet Dr Rowland Msiska announced this in a statement today.

“The declaration is in commemoration of the International Women’s Day which falls on Thursday, 8th March, 2018 and Youth Day which falls on Monday, 12th March 2018. As the country joins the rest of the world to celebrate the International Women’s Day on March 8th, government wishes to appeal to members of the public to reflect on the theme for this year by helping enhance the lives of the rural women through contribution to the welfare of the marginalized in society,” stated Dr Msiska.

“Government also wishes to encourage the youth to leverage on the opportunities being created in the information, communication and technology sectors to further improve their livelihoods in line with the theme for the 2018 Youth Day Celebrations.”
