Bwana Mkubwa PF member of parliament Dr Jonas Chanda says it is not his job to distribute campaign bicycles, but to focus on developmental programmes for his constituency.

In a statement, Chanda added that it was malicious for party officials to accuse him of stealing bicycles because he doesn’t need one.

He described the allegations as “petty, malicious lies” and cheap politicking by people with ulterior motives “hell-bent” on distracting him from focusing on the development agenda for the constituency.

Dr Chanda stated that all the 120 PF-branded bicycles were accounted for and distributed by PF constituency and ward officials to various wards on the Copperbelt province.

Dr Chanda disclosed that Mushili Ward was allocated 43 bicycles; Ndola district PF office with six bicycles; Bwana Mkubwa constituency office with 12 bicycles; and other six wards with 59 bicycles, bringing the total number of bicycles to 120.

“As a member of parliament it is not my job to distribute bicycles since my duties are to represent the people, legislate and provide oversight. You can confirm what I’m saying by contacting PF Bwana Mkubwa constituency chairman, Mr Fabian Selembe, on 095 5926355 and Ndola district PF secretary, Mr Benjamin Chitondo, on 0964200046 / 096 6005387. I did not get a single bicycle because I don’t need one,” stated Dr Chanda.
