The Patriotic Front on the Copperbelt has kicked off campaigns for the 2021 general elections.

PF Copperbelt Provincial Chairman Nathan Chanda has since handed over some motorbikes for campaigns in Masaiti, Mpongwe and Lufwanyama.

Chanda handed over four motorbikes at a meeting with party officials in Mpongwe and Masaiti, Saturday.

“This is part of the meetings that the new PF Provincial Executive is having following the party elections held in December last year. We need to support President Edgar Chagwa Lungu, the Secretary General, our executive and respect the party structures. Let me congratulate Mpongwe District officials for having been elected into office from the just ended intra party elections. Let me on behalf of the executive thank you the district for your hard work and organising this meeting at short notice. This is how it should be. We have come here to thank you for electing us. And the second point of our coming is to familiarize our executive with you the party officials,” Chanda said.

“Time for elections is gone and we need be united without leaving anyone behind. As PF we have a democratic system of electing leaders of the party. We don’t just appoint people in all positions but we go through a democratic process .”

He told the party officials to start party mobilization with immediate effect.

“In encouraging you party officials to conduct party mobilization, we are handing over the four (4) motorbikes that the party headquarters in Lusaka donated from President Edgar Lungu through the Secretary General Mr Davis Mwila. These motorbikes are for Masaiti, Mpongwe and Lufwanyama Districts. We need to work together and love each other. Let us go and mobilize the party. Mobilization is not for the converted PF supporters. Let us go and Mobilize to those that are not in PF. We need to grow the party because politics is about numbers and have all the 13 councillors in Mpongwe belong to PF. We should work hard,” Chanda said.

He asked party officials to explain developmental projects to the people.

“We are aware of the lies of the opposition. Here you have an opposition MP. He gets CDF just like any other MP, so you should ask him where he is taking that money. The opposition especially the UPND are just there to oppose everything that the PF government is doing,” said Chanda.

Meanwhile, Chieftainess Lesa of the Lamba people in Mpongwe District of the Copperbelt says her people have cried enough for development.

Chieftainess Lesa was speaking when Chanda called on her at the palace before proceeding with party functions.

“Pass our regards to the top leadership and remind them of our needs. We want the district to be developed. We are behind here in development. Roads are bad here. We want development here. Roads please help us, pass the message for us,” said Chieftainess Lesa.

“Now that you are elected speak for us, we don’t have a government hospital, we only have a mission hospital, Mpongwe has grown, so we need a modern hospital here. We need a road, cars don’t come here, even bicycles can use them well because of the bad roads. We have a problem, we have complained enough, even a clinic, there is just a foundation, and the contractor has disappeared. We have cases of snake bits here, yet we don’t have a hospital, twapenga.”
