Lusaka lawyer Kelvin Bwalya Fube (KBF) says he still cannot react to his “alleged” expulsion because he has not yet received a letter to that effect.

But Patriotic Front Media Director Sunday Chanda says remains an expelled member of the Patriotic Front party regardless of whether or not he received an expulsion letter.

In an interview, Fube, who adopted an angry tone of voice when contacted by News Diggers! insisted that he had still not received his expulsion letter.

“You know, I am busy but you keep calling and you expect answers from me! I have no comment on that. I have not received the letter; I have said that constantly; I don’t know why you keep asking the same question, when I have the letter you will see my reaction, I have no letter! What do you want me to do? I have said to you several times go and ask Honorable Davies Mwila if he sent the letter here, okay? I have said that I have not received the letter! Why should I lie to you!?” fumed Fube.

Chanda explained that whether KBF received the letter or not, it did not nullify or dilute the Central Committee’s decision to expel the election strategist.

“Firstly, we would have to ascertain whether or not the letter has not been served on Kelvin Fube Bwalya, but even without receipt of the letter, what is in context is that the Central Committee made that resolution on his matter; whether or not he is in receipt of it does not in any way nullify the decision of the Central Committee. In this regard, we know that he was in receipt of subsequent disciplinary letters that had requested him to appeal before the disciplinary organs of the party and I will have to follow through and check whether or not communication from the Central Committee has been served on him officially, but that does not in any way nullify or dilute the decision of the Central Committee,” said Chanda.

“I would want to believe that the letter should have been drafted and the secretary general (Davies Mwila) made that announcement during a press briefing when he addressed journalists, and it is the secretary general that communicates the decision of the Central Committee, I will have to follow-up with our registry just to counter-check because you will find a situation where the letter was served and maybe Mr Fube Bwalya has not just got hold of it, so it is something we can follow-up with the secretariat registry.”

Early this month, Patriotic Front Secretary General Davies Mwila announced that the Central Committee resolved to expel Fube and Julius Komaki from the party for gross indiscipline and for attempting to cause disunity among party members.

This was after Fube declared that he would challenge President Edgar Lungu at the PF convention in 2020.
