PF Secretary General Davies Mwila says the ruling party has established that no PF cadre is collecting monies from bus stations and markets apart from call-boys who are either UPND or PF along the local routes.

And Mwila has with immediate effect dissolved the Mwinilunga District Executive Committee for failure to campaign for the party’s candidate during the Samuteba ward by-election, which was held on October 10, this year.

Speaking after conducting a tour at Kabwata, Soweto, and City markets in Lusaka, Thursday, Mwila argued that no PF cadre was collecting monies from marketeers or bus drivers.

“There has been a lot of talk that cadres are collecting money in markets and bus stations, and as a party, we are very much concerned with that cry from our people. So, we decided to come and check on the ground. We started with Kabwata Market, Soweto Market and New Soweto market and then, lastly, we have ended with the bus drivers (in City Market). But I think we don’t have much of the problem here, but the drivers have a problem when they go out. There are call-boys, who ask for money and the bus drivers are not happy with that arrangement. So, we are appealing to the police to come in and ensure that they bring sanity in the markets and bus stations,” Mwila said.

“It’s not the cadres (collecting money) from traders, from the buses, we have established that there are call-boys out there. We don’t know whether they are UPND or PF and that’s the more reason we are appealing to the police to come in and deal with this matter once and for all.”

And Mwila dissolved the Mwinilunga District Executive Committee with immediate effect for failure to campaign for the party’s candidate during the Samuteba Ward by-election, held on October 10.

He has since further advised the Provincial Executive Committee to inform the structure of the action, accordingly, and further directed the party provincial authority to appoint an interim committee, which will include some of the officials who participated in the campaign during the just-ended by-election campaign.
