THE Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has arrested and charged six individuals with illicit cultivation of over 900 kgs of fresh cannabis plants. In a statement, Wednesday, DEC Deputy Public Relations Officer Theresa Mawere said the six were apprehended during joint operations conducted in Western and Luapula provinces. “Following a joint operation conducted in Mambalakata Village in Luampa District by officers from Mongu and Kaoma Districts in the Western Province, the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC), has jointly charged and arrested five suspects in connection with the offence of illicit cultivation of 990 kilogrammes of fresh cannabis plants and trafficking in 66 kilogrammes of loose cannabis and 2.5 kilogrammes of cannabis seeds, respectively.
