JUDICIAL Complaints Commission (JCC) Chairperson Vincent Malambo says it is time for JCC reports to be made public so that citizens can know why judges are removed or disciplined. Malambo has argued that the current secretive nature of the process of holding judges accountable must be seriously reviewed. It is our opinion that Malambo has struck the right chord in calling for disciplinary reports against judges to be made public. The JCC chairperson is thinking progressively, and his stance reflects a respect for the public’s right to know what happens when judges face disciplinary action, and an appreciation for the long-term integrity of the judiciary itself.
