A Kabwe pastor and another have been committed to the High Court for trial in a matter in which they are charged with aggravated robbery.
James Manjimela, 24, of Kabwe and Elester Zulu, also 24, of Lusaka are charged with one count of aggravated robbery.
Allegations are that Manjimela, a pastor at Centre of Life and Business, and Zulu on January 17, 2022, jointly and whilst acting together and whilst being armed with an offensive weapon stole K42,732 cash and three cell phones, property of BOLA BET.
It is also alleged that the two at or immediately at the time of such stealing used or threatened to use violence to the said Muponda Abia in order to obtain or prevent or overcome resistance of it being stolen.
When the matter came up before Lusaka chief resident magistrate Dominic Makalicha, he allocated it to Lusaka magistrate Christopher Hampungani who explained the charge to the accused persons.
Magistrate Hampungani explained to Manjimela and Zulu that they would not take plea before him as the offence they were charged with was tried by the High Court.
He committed the duo to the Lusaka High Court to undergo trial as the certificate of committal from the Director of Public Prosecutions was ready.
