PF members of parliament have opposed the appointment of Ron Mwambwa as Auditor General, arguing that he doesn’t qualify as he is above the age provided for in the Constitution. The opposition MPs argue that the appointment of Mwambwa, aged 64, is unconstitutional as Article 252 of the Constitution provides that the Auditor General shall retire from office on attaining the age of 60 years. President Hakainde Hichilema recently appointed Dr Mwambwa as Auditor General, subject to ratification by the National Assembly. But addressing the media yesterday, PF members of parliament who include; Lunte MP Mutotwe Kafwaya, Shiwang’andu MP Stephen Kampyongo, Lukashya MP George Chisanga and leader of the opposition in Parliament Brian Mundubile all described the appointment as unconstitutional....
