THE Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has convicted and sentenced former defence minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba’s nephew, Adolphus Mubanga, to two years imprisonment with hard labour for possession of properties suspected to be proceeds of crime. Lusaka Senior Magistrate Ireen Wishimanga sentenced Mubanga, who is Curzon Global Limited country representative, to two years in each of the three counts of possession of properties suspected of being proceeds of crime. The sentences are to run concurrently. Mubanga was initially jointly charged with Mwamba who is facing eight counts of conflict of interest, one count of money laundering and 15 counts of being in possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime.
