THE Economic and Financial Crimes Court has ordered that five Hiace minibuses, a laptop and 2 printers belonging to Elich Services Limited, and two individuals should be forfeited to the state as they are proceeds of crime. Director of Public Prosecutions Gilbert Phiri had applied for the non-conviction based forfeiture of the properties in question on May 15, 2023, which application the court has granted. Henry Banda, Elias Banda and Elich Services Limited had claimed the properties in issue as interested parties. Details of the matter are that Joseph Chitanika, a Zambia Police Officer at Force Headquarters under the criminal investigations department, received intelligence from members of the public that someone in Lusaka’s Kabanana site and service was making counterfeit...
