THE Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a 29-year-old woman to seven years simple imprisonment for assaulting her four-year-old stepson. Longwe Ngosa, between April 1 and July 31, 2023, assaulted a child under the age of 16, thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm. Police arrested Ngosa after a video in which the four-year-old boy was narrating to his schoolteacher how his stepmother physically beat him, went viral. When the matter came up for judgement, Monday, Magistrate Mutinta Mwenya said the victim was indeed assaulted as evidenced by the medical report and proceeded to convict the accused. “I have carefully analysed the evidence.
