UMODZI Kum’mawa has wondered why Chief Chikwa of the Senga speaking people of Chama District in Eastern Province has been arrested for cutting trees, when other chiefs perform the same activity without harassment in other regions. On Sunday, Chief Chikwa was arrested and formally charged for cutting timber in a game restricted area. Meanwhile, Minister of Green Economy and Environment Collins Nzovu said the Department of Forests has cancelled Chief Chikwa’s timber concession licence for contravening the conditions under which it was issued.
