POLICE in Kalulushi have detained two Chinese nationals from Advantex Investments Limited following the suffocation and subsequent death of three employees inside a banding tank containing sulfuric acid mixed with copper ore. In a statement, Copperbelt Police Commissioner Peacewell Mweemba stated that on July 17, 2024, at around 10:00 hours, one of the employees, Anthony Mulumbi, was assigned by his supervisor to clean the tank but started suffocating from the sulfuric acid. The commissioner stated that upon noticing this, Mulumbi’s supervisor called for help and three other employees entered the tank in an attempt to rescue him.
