THE Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has convicted and sentenced a 29-year-old man of Lusaka’s Libala Stage Four area to three months imprisonment with hard labour for insulting President Hakainde Hichilema. Jonathan Tembo, a driver, was facing three counts of use of insulting language, Contrary to Section 179 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia. In count one, it was alleged that Tembo, on June 19, 2024, in Lusaka, used insulting language in a Facebook post on a group “Breaking News in Zambia” to which he stated, “THIS PRESIDENT HIS EMPTY KNOW THINKING NOTHING HIS DOING BUSY UKUN*A FYE AMASUS*III (sic)”.
