THE Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has convicted and sentenced Professional Teachers’ Union of Zambia (PROTUZ) Deputy General Secretary Treegain Kansembe to three years simple imprisonment for uttering a false Grade 12 certificate to the Teaching Council of Zambia. Meanwhile, Magistrate Ireen Wishimanga has acquitted PROTUZ president Vincent Mwitumwa and General Secretary Kangwa Musenga of aiding and abetting Kansembe to receive pecuniary advantage. In this matter, Kansembe, Mwitumwa and Musenga were facing seven counts of uttering false documents, obtaining pecuniary advantage by false pretences, aiding and abetting an offence and unlawful action or proceedings against a whistleblower.
