ACC Director General Daphne Chabu recently gave a speech at a training workshop for a project called “Character is Destiny”. In her speech, the Anti-Corruption Commission boss said the National Policy on Anti-Corruption recognises that youths are among the most vulnerable groups to corruption. This is not debatable, but what causes this vulnerability, and more importantly, how can the nation fix this problem? This “Character is Destiny” project is a curriculum based on moral values that aims to build a culture of integrity among learners in society. The idea is to teach school going children to be honest, at a time when, as Ms Chabu put it, “immoral behaviour is quickly eating away at the moral fabric of our society”....
