Government has withdrawn its funding to the senior men’s national football team after a string of poor results that saw the Chipolopolo miss out on another World Cup qualification. Ministry of Sports Permanent Secretary Kangwa Chileshe has tasked FAZ to outline measures being taken to improve the national team’s performance before funding can be reinstated. The withdrawal of funding from Football House may seem unfair on the new FAZ administration led by Keith Mweemba. The new FAZ president has only just settled in office, and so he cannot really be faulted for the national team’s uninspiring outings.
