MINES and Minerals Development Minister Paul Kabuswe has disclosed that 202 mining accidents were recorded between 2022 and 2024. And Kabuswe says as of July 2025, over 700 mining companies were operating in the country, insisting that government has no plans to nationalise any mine. He was responding to a question in the National Assembly from Kalabo UPND MP Chinga Miyutu, who asked what major mineral deposits were found in Zambia, and which minerals were currently being mined.
