THE Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Monday sent away Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) National Coordinator Norman Chipakupaku and his team after they failed to present some verified reports from the Auditor General, as required. In his defence, Chipakupaku apologised for the inconvenience, explaining that DMMU failed to collect documented evidence from various provinces on time because it was too bulky. The latest Auditor General’s report revealed that DMMU did not provide disposal details such as receipt and goods issued vouchers, distribution lists, delivery notes, in cards, fuel statements, storage location details for undistributed items, assessment reports showing affected areas where items were distributed, beneficiary registers and acquittals for disaster relief items valued at K298,288,744.00.
