HEALTH Minister Dr Elijah Dr Muchima has revealed that new HIV infections have dropped by 52 percent while AIDS-related deaths have decreased by 40 percent. Dr Muchima says young people between the age of 15 and 24 account for 38 percent of new HIV infections. Speaking during the commemoration of World AIDS Day, Monday, Dr Muchima further disclosed that 1.4 million Zambians were living with HIV. “I stand before you on this important occasion of World AIDS Day 2025 to reaffirm our nation’s unwavering commitment to the HIV response.
