THE National Association for Smallholder Farmers (NASFA) says it is disappointing that government has refused to pay farmers with interest. Recently, the Ministry of Finance declined the Association’s demand that government should pay farmers 30 per cent interest for delayed payments for maize supplied to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA). In an interview, Friday, NASFA Executive Director Dr Frank Kayula charged that it did not make sense that small-holder farmers were encouraged to do business while being discouraged on the other hand.
