PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema says he is aware that there’s anxiety around what will happen in August, and has assured citizens that there will be credible, peaceful and transparent elections in 2026. We want to say that, as a matter of fact, there is no alternative to fair, peaceful and transparent elections in a vibrant democracy like ours. These are not optional values that can be invoked only during campaign season; they are the very pillars upon which Zambia’s political stability and international reputation stand. It is therefore commendable that President Hichilema is publicly committing himself to ensuring that Zambia undergoes credible, peaceful and transparent elections this August.
