LUSAKA Magistrate Mwandu Sakala has sentenced a 30-year-old maid to 30 months’ simple imprisonment for stealing US$13,000 from her employer. In this matter, Violet Mwanza was charged with the offence of theft by servant, contrary to Sections 272 and 278 of the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia. Particulars of the offence alleged that Mwanza, on unknown dates but between April 1, 2025, and April 28, 2025, in Lusaka, being employed by Maybin Simbaye as a maid, did steal US$13,000 from the said employer.
