AS a society, we are usually quick to defend ourselves and dismiss complaints around sexual violence as inappropriate conversations. We always choose to reduce gender based violence to a women’s issue. It is uplifting to hear President Hakainde Hichilema bring this discussion up during the most important calendar days for our women. President Hichilema says he is ashamed of the sexual violence being committed by men in this country and that he takes responsibility for that shame.
