LOCAL Government and Rural Development Minister Gift Sialubalo has instructed all local authorities to reduce property rates. Last week, President Hakainde Hichilema directed Sialubalo to lower council rates, noting that the rates were too high, which is why people were not paying. Speaking during a meeting with the leadership of the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives, Sialubalo said government had taken note of the growing concern surrounding the high property rates being charged by some local authorities.
