THE Lusaka High Court has granted former president Edgar Lungu’s daughter, Tasila, leave to commence judicial review proceedings against Speaker Nelly Mutti’s decision to declare the Chawama parliamentary seat vacant. Speaker Mutti declared the Chawama seat vacant on November 28, 2025, following Tasila’s continued absence from Parliament. Bright Nundwe of the FDD has since been elected as the new member of parliament for the constituency. In her ruling, Justice Sharon Newa noted that Tasila is challenging the legality and reasonableness of the decision-making process that led to the declaration of the seat as vacant.
