VICE-President Mutale Nalumango has urged Mwense residents not to vote for NRPUP because the party is in a state of “confusion”.

Speaking when she addressed a rally in Mwense district, Thursday, Vice-President Nalumango wondered why party president Brian Mundubile and his running mate Makebi Zulu had featured competing candidates in some constituencies.

“Mundubile and Makebi are not from the same party. Do you know that? Mundubile has his own party and Makebi also has his own party. I’m not too sure but they are both lawyers. From the little knowledge that I have, an alliance is not provided for. Coalition is not provided for. So I don’t know what they will make if they were to win, but we know they won’t win. To make you understand, it’s more or less like President Hakainde is under UPND and I’m under UNIP and we are working together. How is that possible? Because each party is supposed to have its own manifesto. So Mundubile has his own manifesto, Makebi Zulu also has his own manifesto. Can they move together? Those are not in the same party. And to make it worse, they both have candidates in these constituencies. They are putting two people, Mundubile puts his own, Makebi puts his own, in the same constituency. Aren’t you seeing confusion? They should address issues within the party not always talking about government bringing division to the country” she said.

“You can’t vote for a party that has confusion within itself. They are always saying government has divided the country. What are they? Divided, right? So please don’t vote for them. How can they advocate, let alone run this country, if themselves are divided? Can they bring unity? They are already separated. Please let’s take this seriously. It’s very dangerous. Remember, I’m not too sure if it’s Ndola or Kitwe, but I know it’s Copperbelt. They started fighting among themselves. Those from Makebi and those from Mundubile. Have you ever seen that happen before? They claim they are from the same party but in actual sense they are from different parties. This is latest. They are fighting amongst themselves for one constituency. Now how can they win? Don’t allow them to win here. Residents of Mwense, do not vote for confused people”.

She added that NRPUP was a divided team.

“Honestly, this is a serious matter. Two parties standing, how? I’m talking to you the educated, you nurses, teachers, educated people. You cannot have a group like that one. It’s a divided team. As for me, it’s a write-off. It’s a stillborn to vote for someone who is dead, a child that’s born but dead. Because there is no way that people belonging to two different parties standing on one position. These same babies that come to lie to you ruled for 10 years but nothing to show for it. They are liars. Don’t believe them. Just look at the 10 years they’ve ruled. What big thing can they point at, saying we did this for the people of Mwense?” she said.

Vice-President Nalumango has equally urged UPND adopted candidates to take up their role diligently.

“Equally, you the candidates we have been adopted under the UPND, you must work for the people. We do not want Mwense to remain the same. We want to see a transformation here in Mwense district. Those promised to fix the railway but they did not, so please prove to them that you are a different breed. Prove to them that you will work for them. Don’t just sit back once elected. Work for their wellbeing. Because of corruption, those guys left us with debt. Because they chose to misuse their funds, they left us in debt. So I urge you, my people, do not choose the corrupt root. Choose to diligently work for the people of Mwense. Remember, HH preaches about following the law. If you are caught, you are on your own. Specifically to you, Susan, you may be young but you are well spoken and you understand our manifesto. Please do your best to deliver to the people of Mwense. We want the women,” said Vice-President Nalumango.

“That’s why HH changed the laws and ensured 20 female members of parliament that haven’t been elected to be part of Parliament, because women in Parliament are a few. Why I am talking about Susan is because a woman of her caliber must be a woman of integrity and not a drunkard. We need a quality woman. I know what I’m talking about, because a respected woman is a woman of integrity and a woman of integrity is one that delivers to the Zambian people. I hope you respect her because she equally respects herself. Don’t look at her as young. Look at what she is able to bring out for the people of Mwense. Do not see yourself as young. See yourself as someone who is breaking boundaries. Work for the people of Mwense. We do not want you to sleep on the job. We want you to work and deliver”.
