THE Zambezi River Authority (ZRA) says Lake Kariba’s water levels remain significantly higher than last year, despite the reservoir entering its normal dry season drawdown phase. In a statement, Thursday, Authority Communications and Stakeholder Relations Manager Selusiwe Moyo stated that the lake level as of July 21 stood at approximately 482.07 metres above sea level, with live storage at about 47.47 percent equivalent to approximately 30.76 billion cubic metres of usable water. “Hydrological data recorded by the Authority at its gauging stations across the Kariba Catchment indicates that the 2025/2026 rainfall season, which ended by 30th June 2026, sustained significantly improved hydrological conditions compared to the previous year.
