GOVERNMENT has launched the Extended Voluntary Disclosure Scheme (EVDS), a three-month tax amnesty programme running from September 17 to December 31, 2026, aimed at improving tax compliance. Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) Commissioner General Dingani Banda has disclosed that only 1,042 taxpayers contributed to 80 percent of tax revenue out of six million taxpayers in Q1 2026. Meanwhile, Banda says as at December 31, 2025, outstanding tax debt stood at K71.3 billion, with 82.2 percent arrears accounting for private businesses.
