ZAMBIA Revenue Authority (ZRA) Commissioner General Dingani Banda says the Authority has paid out K16 billion in VAT refunds by mid-2026. Banda has also urged landlords to pay rental income tax, disclosing that out of about 600,000 rented dwellings identified in a study, only 32,719 are registered for rental income tax. In 2020, the Authority paid out about K12.6 billion in VAT refunds, translating to about K850 million per month. By 2024, the amount had risen to K17 billion, while in 2025, about K24 billion was paid out in refunds.
