THE Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has validated the nomination of 40 MPs under the Proportional Representation (PR) electoral system. UPND has been allocated 32 seats out of the 40 seats, while NRPUP has been allocated eight seats. The seats have been allocated based on the presidential votes that the presidential candidates of the two parties received countrywide. Of the 40 seats, 20 have been allocated to women, 15 have been allocated to youths and five have been allocated to persons with disabilities. Out of the 20 seats reserved for women, 17 have been allocated to UPND while the remaining three have been allocated to NRPUP.
