THE Mpika Immigration Office has secured the conviction of a Congolese national and recognised refugee based at Mayukwayukwa Refugee Settlement for two immigration-related offences. Alphonse Harerimana, 40, was convicted by the Mpika Magistrates’ Court on September 18, 2026, for aiding and abetting five Burundian nationals who were illegally staying in Zambia. In a statement, Saturday, Immigration Chief Public Relations Officer Namati Nshinka disclosed that Harerimana was fined K80,000 or, in default, nine months’ simple imprisonment for the offence.
