FINANCE and National Planning Minister Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane says government will do everything possible to maintain stability in the exchange rate. Dr Musokotwane adds that he does not see anything at the moment that could significantly threaten the stability of the exchange rate. For the past six months, the kwacha has remained relatively stable, trading between about K17 and K21 against the US dollar. The stability continued even during the election period, when the currency would ordinarily be expected to experience some volatility.
