MINISTRY of Mines Permanent Secretary Dr Hapenga Kabeta says Zambia will be “significantly” transformed once the target of producing three million metric tonnes of copper annually is achieved. Dr Kabeta says attaining the target will move the country from its current status to a prosperous middle-income economy. Meanwhile, Dr Kabeta says government has established an Environmental Protection Fund to prevent mining companies from shifting the burden of environmental remediation to the State.
