MINISTRY of Energy Permanent Secretary Professor Ephraim Munshifwa has announced that TAZAMA Open Access operations are scheduled to resume in January 2027 as part of measures to ensure long-term stability and competition in fuel supply. Prof Munshifwa has also disclosed that as of September 21, 2026, the country had about 154.3 million litres of diesel and 34.8 million litres of petrol, representing 19.2 stock days of diesel and 17.3 stock days of petrol. Meanwhile, Prof Munshifwa has revealed that construction of the Multi-Product Petroleum and Natural Gas Pipeline from Walvis Bay in Namibia to Lusaka will commence by mid-2027 and is expected to be operational by mid-2030.
