LAWYER Patrick Chulu says the Lusaka High Court has stayed government’s decision to cancel Celestine Mukandila’s National Registration Card (NRC) and Zambian passport. Chulu says Mukandila has also been released on constitutional bail. Last month, the Department of Immigration arrested Mukandila following a report concerning his immigration status. Earlier this month, government cancelled his NRC and Zambian passport after determining that the documents had allegedly been obtained through fraud and false declaration. According to Government Gazette Notice No. 1418 of 2026, government stated that NRC No. 113314/10/1 and Zambian Passport No. ZN817922, belonging to Mukandila, were no longer valid for identification, travel or any official purpose.
