THE latest disclosures from the Department of Immigration should worry every Zambian who cares about the integrity of our borders. In the latest case, 27 foreign nationals were removed after convictions for immigration offences. This is not an isolated incident. Publicly reported enforcement operations this year show that thousands of illegal immigrants are removed in a year. Recently, 59 foreign nationals were removed on September 5, another 143 were reported removed later in September, and the latest 27 were also removed. Those four operations alone account for hundreds of removals in the last quarter of 2026. Separate cases have involved 109 suspected illegal immigrants detained in Mpika and 21 Ethiopians intercepted while allegedly being smuggled in fuel tankers. The question...
