THE Consumer Unity and Trust Society (CUTS) says government must introduce measures to cushion households and businesses likely to be affected by increased fuel prices. CUTS Consumer Welfare Officer Victor Sikombe says while government needs to raise revenue, the impact on consumers must be considered whenever changes are made to fuel related taxes. Last Wednesday, the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) announced an increase in petrol and diesel prices by over K6 per litre following the reinstatement of excise duty after the expiry of the tax waiver.
