High Court Judge Mary Mulanda has dismissed Kabwata NRPUP MP Danny Yenga’s application to throw out UPND losing candidate Andrew Tayengwa’s election petition for want of jurisdiction. Judge Mulanda ruled that the election results were duly declared on August 17, 2026, and held that Tayengwa filed his petition within the required 14-day period. On Monday, Yenga asked the Lusaka High Court to dismiss Tayengwa’s election petition for want of jurisdiction, arguing that the challenge was filed out of time. In this matter, Tayengwa filed an election petition, challenging his loss in Kabwata. Yenga won with 31,565 votes against Tayengwa’s 21,114 votes.
