THE issue of street vending is one complex topic which is normally looked at from a simplistic point of view. As we express our opinion on this issue, we will start by stating that we support efforts by the Lusaka City Council to clean the city and push vendors to designated trading areas. In fact, we hold the view that street vending must be regulated in all other towns and cities across the country. The Central Business District cannot permanently operate with pavements blocked, drainage systems choked and traders competing for every available road reserve.
